Sister Rita Jean DuBrey Receives Scouting Honor
Sister Rita Jean DuBrey (Sister Valerie John) has been selected by the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York as the Distinguished Trailblazer, Woman of Distinction for 2009. Sister Rita Jean was selected from among many other fine candidates because of her remarkable work and many contributions.
Sister Rita's groundbreaking work in addiction recovery and now in complementary therapy has been extraordinary. She sees the "dear neighbor" in those who are hurting and in all those who are seeking to deepen their spirituality and their relationship with God.
In informing Sister Rita of her selection, the chair of the selections committee said, "You truly exemplify the characteristics implicit in the ideals celebrated in our theme, Imagine the Possibilities. You are an inspiration to everyone who knows you and an excellent role model to all Girl Scouts. Indeed, you are a woman for all to emulate." Thank you, Sister Rita Jean, for living our charism of God's great love and touching the lives of many with compassion, understanding peace. Congratulations!
