Sister Mary Anne Nelson, CSJ, Receives Distinguished Faculty Award
Sister Mary Anne Nelson, CSJ ’72, (Sister Bernard Anne) Associate Professor of Music Studio and Director of the Music Industry program at The College of Saint Rose, has been selected as the 2009 recipient of the Thomas A. Manion Distinguished Faculty Award.
Sister Mary Anne oversees the state-of-the-art production and recording facility where Saint Rose students learn how to use the latest recording and sequencing software. The Music Industry program, under her direction, has more than tripled its enrollment over the last few years. She has developed a curriculum that embraces the latest technology, the business practices of the industry and the creativity of her students. A January 2008 article in the Albany Times Union, quoted Sister Mary Anne, “I like helping my students to become and realize all they can be, to tap their potential, to light the spark in them that will make them go out on their own when they leave Saint Rose and continue to do something they love.”
Sister Mary Anne’s nominators described her as the best kept secret at Saint Rose. She is a true teacher with dedication and compassion for all of her students and because of her, they continue to teach, compose and play music.
Congratulations, Sister Mary Anne!
