Sister Lauren Van Dermark, CSJ, Receives the Sister Catherine Bernard Cox Award from St. Mary's Healthcare
On January 30, 2012, Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet Lauren Van Dermark, CSJ, received The Sister Catherine Bernard Cox Award for Lifetime Service from St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam.
Sister Lauren has a bachelor’s degree in social studies from The College of Saint Rose, a master’s degrees in history and a master’s degree in social work from The University at Albany (SUNY).
She served the Albany and Syracuse Dioceses as a secondary social studies teacher and spent several years as director of senior services at Catholic Charities of Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties.
From 1994 to 2004, Sister Lauren served on the Province Leadership Team of the Sisters of St. Joseph and then became the master plan coordinator for the Sisters of St. Joseph, overseeing the creation of the Carondelet Hospitality Center. She is currently a member of the executive team that is developing Shaker Pointe at Carondelet, Inc., a senior-living community. She has served for many years as a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Mary’s Healthcare and serves on the executive, audit and governance committees.
