300 Sisters and Associates Experience CSJ Days 2012!
Nearly 300 Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and CSJ Associates gathered August 9-12, 2012, at St. Joseph's Provincial House, Latham, New York, to celebrate CSJ Days 2012.
The days together featured a keynote theological presentation, given by Sister Joy Milos, CSJ, professor of religious studies at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Sister Joy’s presentation, an excellent beginning to our province focus this year on theological updating, centered on three questions: What is theology? What is Christology? What is Christology in the context of the New Cosmology?
A panel, consisting of Andrew Lunetta, a recent graduate of Le Moyne College; Tom Driscoll, a long-time CSJ friend; Eileen Davenport, a staff member at St. Bernard’s School of Theology; and Dr. David Szczerbacki, president of The College of Saint Rose, enlightened us on how our friends and sponsored institutions carry on the CSJ charism of bringing unity and reconciliation to God’s people without distinction and how these same friends can advise and enable us to be creative in extending our charism and mission in a world in great need of unifying love.
Through the excellent facilitation of Sisters Jean Wincek and Colleen O’Malley of our St. Paul Province, we discussed our various congregational and province activities, stemming from the work of the Core Group, the Enfoque Group, and the Congregational and Provincial Selection Committees. Throughout the day, in the midst of frequent chanting of “Holy One, O Holy One dwelling within us,” participants shared reflections on our charism in the workplace, our growing understanding of the New Cosmology and our deep desire to bring the face of Jesus to all whom we meet.
The liturgies, litanies, ritual, group sharing, panel discussions and time for visiting one another led to an enriching three days of celebrating our call from God to bring the CSJ charism to all God’s people.
