Statement Regarding Dr. David Szczerbacki, Ninth President of The College of Saint Rose

June 14, 2013

Today, the Board of Trustees of The College of Saint Rose announced the resignation of Dr. David Szczerbacki, the ninth president of The College of Saint Rose. Dr. Szczerbacki is completing his first year as president of the College and elected not to renew his contract, citing personal reasons.

The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet, who founded The College of Saint Rose in 1920 and who presently sponsor the College, thank Dr. Szczerbacki for his nine years of leadership and service to the College, as provost, vice president of academic affairs and president. David has been instrumental for nearly a decade in incorporating the mission and values of the Sisters of St. Joseph into the academic and daily life of the College. Our Consensus Statement and our Ignatian-Salesian spirituality call us as Sisters of St. Joseph “to strive toward excellence, tempered by gentleness, peace and joy.” David has joined us in responding to that call through his service at The College of Saint Rose.

We thank David for his diligence and dedication to the College and to the charism of The Sisters of St. Joseph and wish him every success in his future endeavors. We promise our prayers to David, his wife, Susan, and their daughter, Katie.
