Albany Province Celebrates Affirmation of New Province Leadership Team
On Saturday, August 3, 2013, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Albany Province, together with family, friends, clergy and religious, celebrated the affirmation and installation of their new Province Leadership Team in the chapel of St. Joseph's Provincial House, Latham, NY. The members of the team include: Sister Katherine Arseneau; Sister Kathleen Eiffe; Sister Jeanne Marie Gocha; Sister Mary Anne Heenan, province director; Sister Eileen McCann, first councilor; and Sister Sean Cathleen Peters.
Born in Syracuse, NY, Sister Katherine Arseneau entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1963. She has served as teacher, principal and administrator in schools in the Albany and Syracuse Dioceses and was also the business manager of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Troy, faith formation director at St. Thomas Parish, Delmar, and family representative at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Presently, Sister Katherine is the parish life director at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Troy.
Sister Kathleen Eiffe is a native of Rome, NY, and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1977. Sister Kathleen taught social studies, physical education and theology in schools of the Albany and Syracuse Dioceses and served in parish ministry. She also served the Syracuse Diocese as regional director of religious education and diocesan director of religious education. Since 2011, Sister Kathleen has been the co-director of the Carondelet Hospitality Center, Latham.
Born in Riverhead, NY, Sister Jeanne Marie Gocha entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1998. She served as teacher, administrator and campus minister in schools in Shrewsbury, MA, Troy, Schenectady and Ballston Spa and also was director for adult faith formation in Ballston Spa. Since 2009, Sister Jeanne Marie has been the vocation/formation director for the Albany Province of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.
A native of Utica, NY, Sister Mary Anne Heenan entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1963. Sister Mary Anne was an administrator and taught math and science in schools of the Albany and Syracuse Dioceses, and served the Syracuse Diocese as assistant director of curriculum, regional superintendent of schools and superintendent of schools. In addition, she was the treasurer of the Albany Province of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Since 2004, Sister Mary Anne has been a senior consultant with Meitler Consultants, Inc. in Hales Corners, WI.
Sister Eileen McCann is a native of Syracuse, NY, and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1965. Sister Eileen began her ministerial career as a teacher of mathematics in schools of the Albany and Syracuse Dioceses. She continued her service to young people as director of youth services for Catholic Charities, Utica; associate director of religious education/youth ministry for the Albany Diocese; diocesan coordinator of youth ministry for the Syracuse Diocese; and coordinator for youth and young adult ministries for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Secretariat for Family, Laity, Women and Youth.
Born in Glen Cove, NY, Sister Sean entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1964. She began her ministry as an elementary teacher and served as an associate professor of educational psychology at The College of Saint Rose, Albany, and as vice president for academic affairs at Fontbonne University, St. Louis. Presently, Sister Sean is director of mission experience at The College of Saint Rose and also is executive director of The Association of Colleges of Sisters of St. Joseph.
The new Province Leadership Team, whose members began their term at the Affirmation Liturgy, will serve until 2018. Sisters Mary Anne Heenan, Kathleen Eiffe and Eileen McCann form the Province Executive Committee of the leadership team. Sisters Katherine Arseneau, Jeanne Marie Gocha and Sean Peters serve on the leadership team and also retain their present ministries.
