Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet Welcome 9 New Associates at Annual Commitment Weekend!

On June 15, 2014, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and CSJ Associates of the Albany Province welcomed nine new associates during a Eucharistic Liturgy in the chapel of St. Joseph's Provincial House, Latham, NY. The Commitment Liturgy followed a day during which Sisters and CSJ Associates explored the CSJ charism, mission and vision at a retreat day at the Provincial House.

The following individuals made their first commitment Sunday as a CSJ Associate: Eleanor Coniglio (Rome), John Eagan (Albany), Carol Furgal (Rome), Joan Gorman (Rome), Patricia Hagerty (Rome), Nicole Holtzer (Rome), Mary Ellen Meskell (Binghamton), Daniel Persico (Albany) and Mary Weber (Rome). Patricia Powers of Utica, who had planned to make her first commitment this year, became seriously ill and was able to make her commitment in Utica on April 23, 2014. Pat died peacefully the next day, April 24, 2014.

With Rev. James Vaughan as presider and CSJ Associate Deb Riitano giving the reflections, the associates joined in celebration with a chapel filled to overflowing with CSJ Associates, Sisters of St. Joseph, family and friends. During the Eucharistic Liturgy, the Sisters of St. Joseph expressed their support and gratitude to these men and women who live and work as the sisters do in uniting all persons and all creation with God and with one another in God.

The new CSJ Associates promised to live according to the ideals and values of the Sisters of St. Joseph, to bring those values to their home and workplace and to join with the Sisters in transforming the world, according to the Gospel and with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
