Province Celebrates 28 Jubilarians of 75, 70, 60, 50 and 40 Years

On Saturday, March 17, 2018, over 300 Sisters of St. Joseph and CSJ Associates gathered at the Provincial House to celebrate the gift of vocation with the 28 jubilarians of the Albany Province who commemorated 75, 70, 60, 50 and 40 years in the congregation and who shared 1,635 years of service as Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.

Joy-filled applause began the moment our three 75-year Jubilarians, Sisters Bernadette Catellier, Margaret Paul Scrodin and Marie Wilson, entered the chapel to begin the procession and continued until all the celebrants had taken their seats. PH Chaplain Rev. Geoffrey Burke was celebrant of the Eucharistic Liturgy. Jubilarian Sister Shirley Maloney (50) welcomed the congregation, and Sisters Lois Paciello (70), Barbara Kuczynski (60), Mary Clementine Lynch (60) and Francine Dempsey (60) lighted the candles, representing the deceased members of each jubilee group. Forty-year Jubilarian Sister Kathleen Eiffe, gave the homily which focused on the chosen Scripture readings and their meaning in light of this very special the day. Sister Katherine Arseneau served as cantor, joined by Sister Patricia St. John, pianist; Sister Patricia Houlihan, organist; Christina Shaughnessy, violinist; and Norman Thibodeau, flutist. The Sister Sacristans created the lovely chapel ambience. Sister Jane Comerford (50) led the sisters in the vow renewal while CSJ Associate Jack Eagan led associates in a renewal of their promises.

The day was a joy-filled one in which Sisters and Associates celebrated, through the Word, the Eucharist and a festive meal, the joy of being together.

Throughout the day, jubilarians, sisters and associates expressed thanks to the Jubilee Committee, FLIK Senior Dining and all others who had helped to plan the beautiful day of celebration. Most of all, sisters and associates alike offered thanks to God for the gifts of faithfulness, friendship, service and love with which they had been blessed.
