Sisters Celebrate Jubilees at St. Joseph's Provincial House

On Saturday, March 16, 2019, over 300 Sisters of St. Joseph and CSJ Associates gathered at the Provincial House to celebrate the gift of vocation with the 29 jubilarians of the Albany Province who commemorated 75, 70, 60, 50, 40 and 25 years in the congregation and who shared 1,775 years of service as Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.

Enthusiastic applause began the moment our six 75-year Jubilarians--Sisters Elizabeth Jean Allard, Anne Lawrence Clark, Catherine Crispo, Theresa Fournier, Mary Lois Goldner and Anne Michael Mirabito--entered the chapel to begin the procession and continued until our 25-year Jubilarian, Sister Joan Mary Hartigan, made her entrance!. PH Chaplain Rev. Geoffrey Burke was celebrant of the Eucharistic Liturgy. Jubilarian Sister Kay Ryan (50) welcomed the congregation, and Sisters Renee Adamany (40 years), Grace Bacon (60 years), Ellen Judith Lindsley (60 years) and Mary Anne Bookman (60 years) lighted the candles, representing the deceased members of each jubilee group. Silver Jubilarian Sister Joan Mary Hartigan, gave the homily which focused on the chosen Scripture readings and their meaning in light of this very special the day. Sister Jackie Johnas served as cantor and Sister Kate Arseneau sang the litany of the deceased Sisters; they were joined by Sister Patricia St. John, pianist; Christina Shaughnessy, violinist; and Norman Thibodeau, flutist. Sister Anna Mae Collins (50) led the Sisters in the vow renewal while CSJ Associate Mary Craven led Associates in a renewal of their promises. The Sister Sacristans created the lovely chapel ambience.

The day was a joy-filled one in which Sisters and Associates celebrated, through the Word, the Eucharist and a festive meal, the joy of being together.

Throughout the day, jubilarians, sisters and associates expressed thanks to the Jubilee Committee, Unidine Senior Dining and all others who had helped to plan the beautiful day of celebration. Most of all, sisters and associates alike offered thanks to God for the gifts of faithfulness, friendship, service and love with which they have been blessed.
