Iffat Peter Becomes a Candidate in the Sisters of St. Joseph

During a prayer service at the Provincial House (PH) on Thursday, June 11, 2020, Iffat Peter became a candidate in the process to become a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet! Amidst the COVID-required social distancing in the chapel, most of the Sisters joined in the ceremony via the closed-circuit tv system at the PH.

Iffat, the third of four girls in her family, is a native of Sindh Province in southeast Pakistan and has family in Pakistan, Canada and the U.S.

Iffat’s local community of Sisters at the Provincial House, the Province Leadership Team and Sisters who will be guiding Iffat during her period of Initial Formation took part in Tuesday’s prayer service.

The candidacy program has a team of members who oversee the process. The team is called the Initial Membership Coordinating Group and present members are Sisters Rosa Casaleno, Linda Neil, Ranah Phelan and Nancy Schmidt. Sister Nancy will serve as Iffat’s “companion” by facilitating her orientation to the Congregation.

Iffat’s joy at becoming a CSJ candidate was palpable and contagious! Join us in prayer for Iffat as she begins this formal step in becoming a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet!
